Wedding Dresses for Tornado Victims

by Dave Anderson | Comments Off

Wedding Dresses for Tornado Victims is where brides-to-be can come to find help rebuilding their dreams, as well as a place for those who want to help them. As we pull together for those hardest hit in Alabama, Missouri and across the South, we ask that those offering goods and services focus solely on donation, not discounts.

Currently, we are looking for a florist to help a Hackleburg bride, whose plans were affected by the tornado, have her special wedding day. She needs donations of bouquets, boutonnieres, and church decorations.

Perhaps one florist could take care of the wedding party flowers and another florist could donate the church decorations?

If you are a florist willing to donate your services for this wedding, please contact Mariesa at weddingdressesfortornadovictims@hotmail.com.

Thank You

To everyone who gave to support Tornado Victims:

Thank you for your generous contribution toward tornado relief in North Alabama!  On April 27, North Alabama experienced one of the most deadly tornadoes on record when a single EF-4/EF-5 passed through our area cutting a deadly path over 100 miles long.

Because of your generosity, we were able to provide immediate relief to hundreds of victims in 5 counties in our region.  This relief was distributed in the form of gift cards or cash to get food, clothing, gas, household items, baby diapers and other things they needed that no one could supply without knowing the individual family situation.

I’d like to share two notes we received a few days ago from victims you helped.

“Thanks’ and thanks’ again for the gift cards.  It was so great of you all who don’t even know me and helped me.  I could never say how much it meant to me.  Thanks’ and thanks’ again.  Please pray for me and my recovery after the storms.  It will take time but people like these people at this church sure has helped”

Dewayne Moland – Moulton, AL

“Thank you so much for the support you sent.  The cash gift will be used well.  I’m looking forward to the day I can pay it forward.  God bless you.  Keep us in your prayers!  Please continue to pray for the tornado victims.  There is so much to be done.”

Jane Cooley – Silver Springs, AL

The next phase of relief will be in the form of replacing homes for several displaced families.  We have received applications from many people who need help, and because of you, we will be able to replace everything for a few families in our region who have nothing left and no one to help.

Thank you again!  You have given hope and help to the least, lost and lonely in Alabama.

God’s best!

Heartbroken

by Dave Anderson | Comments Off

We just heard the news about the tornado outbreak in Minneapolis and Joplin, MO. A team from Carterville Christian in Joplin sent a crew to help dig out Alabama. We are in touch with a churches on the ground. Pray for our friends in Joplin, MO. We are working on a response. There was a direct hit on a hospital. Many fatalities.   We are heartbroken but we ARE the church!

Next Steps

Wow – What an amazing response to the Immediate Relief Effort.  What started as a dream for $1000 in gift cards on one street has turned into money that could change the lives of several families forever.  We have given over $12,000 in immediate relief in the form of gift cards, fuel, money for temporary trailers to people in five counties and we have rallied over 50 churches around the US and individuals from around the world to support this effort.  In addition to obtaining supplies, furnishing a home from donated goods and directing crews from around the US to help in the relief effort together we have raised nearly $175,000

We have begun to formalize the process to assist a few families in the North Alabama area that FEMA can not help and insurance wont help.  We wish we could help every family in the long term.  We have helped hundreds in the short term.  Our next steps will be deliberate, prayerful, and careful.  Every story is heartbreaking.  Every person matters.  The more that is given the more people we can bless.  Thank you so much for your gifts and your prayers going forward!

This video of some of the efforts was shown at Crosspoint Community Church in Decatur during a live performance of the song and $10,000 was given as a result. We are in this together!
